The Sweet Life of M

So, yesterday the power was out and it was blazing hot! We decided after nap time to go ahead and run some errands with a couple of our friends. One of our errands was to place where they sell really good bread, baked goods and ice cream. We were really there just to get bread, but decided to just get some ice cream, too, since it was so hot. So, the five us shuffled into the ice cream shop and stood there trying to decide which flavor to devour and how many scoops we each wanted. While we stood there, the man behind the counter gave M a taster spoon of ice cream. That taster spoon was followed by three or four others. By the time he had finished giving M the ice cream the rest of us had made our selections. We had each settle on a bowl or cone with two scoops. We paid one of the men working there and started to walk out, when the other man who had been feeding M ice cream before handed another bowl of ice cream with three scoops to us. This was a free, extra bowl just for M!!

After the ice cream shop, we needed to run to the corner market to get a few things for dinner. S and I went to grab the few things we needed while M hung out with the men that work there. When we returned M was eating chocolate another store patron had bought him. So, we got to take that candy home with us along with another piece of candy the man checking us out gave M!

S and I have tried to be really good about giving M sweets. That worked well until we moved here! Needless to say yesterday's sugar rushed ended in a total melt down and an early bed time. What are we to do?!? It is very rude to refuse the sweets if they ask us and many times they just give it to him without asking us! This culture just loves giving sweet to children. Kind of like the doctor who lectured us on making sure M eats a balanced diet and then gave him a lollipop. I guess we just hope for good naps, healthy teeth and few melt downs!
